REGISTRATION now open

The Extended Day program is housed in the emPOWER kids Gym, on the 5th floor of 4700 King Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22302.  

Please email Suzi@empower-kids.com to report an absence. We take the safety and security of your children very seriously. If we are not notified in advance of your child’s absence, we will call caregivers (and potentially emergency contacts if caregivers cannot be reached) to confirm that the child is where she/he is supposed to be. 

Yes, Extended Day will operate on Early Release Days.

Snacks will not be provided on a regular basis. We will have back up snacks available in case a child did not bring a snack. We may also have special events in which food may be provided. Families will be notified in advance in case of food allergies or sensitivities. If you would like to donate a box of bars, applesauce, or other healthy snacks to keep in the emergency snack pantry, please email Suzi to arrange drop off.

Extended Day will not be open on days that school is closed. However, often we do a pop-up OST camps for emergency closures. Please check our website, social media, or your emails for more information once the school districts have announced closures. 

In order for the remainder of your deposit to be refunded, we require 30 days' notice with cause (work/family move, military orders, loss of job, etc.) or 60 days' notice without cause. If proper notice is not given, you may lose your deposit and may be charged beyond your leave date.

Emergency closures are often made with little notice. Our decision to remain open will depend on the circumstances of the closure and will be communicated to families via email and text as soon emPOWER kids leadership has made a decision.

During Extended Day, your child will have the opportunity to participate in a 30-45-minute class, homework time, active games time with coaches, and have free choice/play time. Additionally, there will be activities throughout the week that may be STEM or Art related. 

Children must be 5 years old prior to September 30th, 2022, in order to attend Extended Day.

Early Release programming is only for students currently enrolled in Extended Day. If you are interested in care on days school is closed, please register for one of our OST camps at   OST Day Camps (empower-kids.com)  

Pickup is at 6:00 pm. Please call us as soon as you know you are going to be late so that we can let your child know. If you have three late pickups in a month, you may lose your spot in the program. If we have not heard from you by 6:00 pm, we will call care givers, and potentially call emergency contacts, to ensure someone is on their way. If you have no late pickups in a month, your Extended Day fees will be reduced by $25 for the next month.  

The deposit is used to secure your registration for emPOWER kids Extended Day for the 2022-23 school year.

Each month, you have the opportunity to earn a $25 credit by having no late pick-ups. If you have a late pick up, you forfeit the $25 credit. The remaining balance of $250 will be credited towards the last month of tuition.
